Tribit XSound Go Portable Wireless Speaker Review

Sound quality

The short answer for this is that it sounds great! For music the bass is super powerful but mids and lows never sound overpowered. I could easily pick out the different parts of songs including bass-lines, symbols and guitar riffs, Something that can be a challenge on other speakers due to certain frequencies not coming through very well.

I tried various genres of music including metal, rock, rap and some electronic music and every single one sounded great. Genres like rap had noticeable bass and deeper sounds while rock had a much more balanced sound. What ever type of music you like this speaker will make them sound great!

Music is ultra clear even at full volume sound never became distorted or crack.

Even though Tribit doesn’t have a official list of the speakers supported frequency range I was able to use various test on YouTube to find that this speaker was able to go down to 25hz before changes became inaudible and up to 17500hz before sound cut out. These speakers have a pretty impressive range and should be able to cover any song, movie or game that you throw at it.

Sound quality when used as a phone

Even though I rarely get phone calls these speakers do include a built-in microphone meaning if you’re away from your phone you can still make and receive calls by answering/hanging up with the speakers play button.

According to my wife my voice sounded “normal” on her phone while I used the XSound go and voices on my end coming through the speaker sounded normal too. I did have a strange glitch one time where my voice was heard on her phone but no voice audio was coming through the speaker on my end, but this was fixed by hanging up and calling back and has not been experienced again.

Sound quality when used as TV speakers

I also used this speaker with my TV by plugging it into the AUX output in the rear of my TV and WOW I never knew how flat the built-in speakers were. Even small things sounded noticeably better, like the sound YouTube makes when you try scrolling to far the sound effect suddenly sounded punchy and deep where with my built-in TV speakers it sounded small and hardly noticeable.

With gaming the power of this speaker was even more noticeable. Playing Battlefield 4 weapons suddenly sounded powerful, ever shot had a boom and explosions sounded like they were coming from speakers way larger than this speaker.

In the Witcher 3 this speaker showed it could handle highs too, Swords clashing had a clear higher pitched “clank” sound but voices and lower end sound effects still sounded clear and crisp.

The only complaint I found in the sound aspect is that even at maxed out volume these speakers don’t get very loud, I was able to stand a few feet away from the speakers while both my phone and the speaker were at max volume and it sounded “loud but not painfully loud” from that distance.

Now this isn’t to say they don’t get “loud” I personally listen to music with the speakers at max and my phone around 60% when I’m within a few feet of the speaker and there’s no background noise and it sounds “normal” as far as volume goes, But if you’re trying throw a party or cover a large area in sound you may need to find some speakers that get louder even if they sound worse than the XSound Go.

For $39.99 you will be hard pressed to find speakers this good. They sound amazing and for the price are a wonderful value. The only complaint in this department is that they could be louder so I’m giving the XSound Go a 4/5 in the overall Sound Quality department.

Now onto battery life, Bluetooth range and durability!
