Conclusion and Verdict
I really like what Crucial has made in the BX300 SSD. the BX300 is inexpensive but still based on higher endurance MLC NAND. Performance is as good as we can see in high SATA SSD series. It lacks hardware encryption but most home users don’t need it and it can lower costs.
The BX300 was designed as a replacement for slow HDD and it’s perfect for that. I don’t even want to think about work on a HDD. SSD is clearly the best upgrade option for older and newer computers. While many applications don’t need much more RAM or faster processors then are loading much more data. We can see that in probably all web browsers and many other software.
Crucial BX300 surprised me a bit as I wasn’t expecting a new controller and MLC NAND. Most SSD in this price are using TLC NAND and even MX300 is based on Micron TLC NAND. Of course we can’t compare NAND only by general bits per cell description but let’s say I was expecting something else inside the BX300. I’m glad to see so well balanced SSD and I think it will be popular series.
