Performance
Performance tests were performed on the Intel X79 platform with i7 4930K processor. We were using Intel USB 3.0 controller on the ASUS Rampage IV Extreme motherboard with the latest BIOS and drivers.
Used benchmarks are popular programs available for download from manufacturer’s sites or many other around the web. We have picked tests that are showing sequential transfers – like ATTO Disk Benchmark and various random bandwidth tests that we can check in benchmarks like CrystalDiskMark or Anvil’s Storage Utilities.
ATTO Disk Benchmark
Results in sequential transfers are slightly lower than expected. Maximum read achieved in ATTO was ~262MB/s while maximum read ~216MB/s. A lot in this case depends from USB controller and used test files. In general it still looks really good as not many flash drives can achieve similar results.
CrystalDiskMark 3.0.1 x64
CrystalDiskMark results are also good. Bandwidth in this benchmark is always lower than in other tests so 248MB/s sequential read and 198MB/s sequential write can be considered as high bandwidth.
Looking at random transfers, especially random 4K read result is great. We can compare it to a cheaper SSD series what is of course amazing as JumpDrive P10 is “only” a flash drive.
Write results are about average for high end flash drives and are not really important for this type of storage.
Anvil’s Storage Utilities
Anvil’s tests are similar to CrystalDiskMark and ATTO but are also showing IOPS ( Input-Output Operations per Second ) and data access time.
Also here we can see great read results what is most important in daily work.
