Here are couple of words from Toshiba included in earlier press realise of HG6 series.

First mainstream SSDs to use state-of-the-art Toshiba A19nm MLC NAND

“Toshiba Electronics has announced the next-generation of Toshiba’s award-winning HG series of high performance Solid State Drives (SSDs) for use in notebooks, workstations, read intensive enterprise applications and as server boot drives. The HG6 drives are the first mainstream drives to take advantage of Toshiba’s Advanced 19nm (A19nm) toggle 2.0 MLC (multi level cell) NAND, which delivers major advances in performance and power efficiency.

HG6series SSDs are available in capacities ranging from 60GB to 512GB and boast maximum sequential read speeds of 534MB/s and maximum sequential write speeds of 482MB/s. The drives dramatically accelerate computer boot times and application start times to provide an improved computing experience.

The HG6 series is incredibly efficient, consuming less energy than previous generations and help improve the battery life of mobile devices. The drives are available in a variety of form factors, including space saving mSATA, M.2 and in standard 2.5inch (64mm) widths with heights of 7mm and 9.5mm.

The drives are fitted with a 6Gbit/s SATA 3.1 interface and include Adaptive Size SLC Write cache technology and optional Self Encrypting feature compliant to TCG-Opal 2.0. All HG6 SSDs incorporate Toshiba’s robust and highly efficient Quadruple Swing-By Code (QSBC™) for improved error correction and reliability.”

The test results will be presented on one of our usual test platforms fitted with an Intel i5 4670K CPU and an ASRock Z87M OC Formula motherboard. We are going to use Intel’s integrated storage controller and the SATA III ports so readers can easily compare results to their home PCs.
