Inno3D iChill X3 GeForce GTX 1080 Review (8GB GDDR5X)

Verdict and Conclusion

I’ve always had good experiences in the past with the Inno3D, and to this date they haven’t disappointed me yet in terms of value, price and performance. Well, I can also say the same for the Inno3D iChill X3 GeForce GTX 1080.

As expected, the performance of the Inno3D iChill X3 GeForce GTX 1080 is excellent. This is all thanks to the pre-overclocked GPU running at 1759MHz (default is 1607MHz), with a boost clock of 1898MHz (default is 1733MHz). It competes very well against one of the world’s fastest GTX 1080… the ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 AMP Extreme edition which contains an even higher overclocked GPU.

Of course, with a pre-overclocked GPU, you’ll require extra cooling and the included iChill X3 cooling solution from Inno3D does a great job. The 3 fans with scythe blades really helps with providing sufficient airflow over the large heat sink.

With positives out of the way, we now focus on some of the things which I thought were missing. There’s no dedicated control software which could have given it an advantage. Things like options for further overclocking, fan controls and RGB.

The GPU load indicators are an added bonus, but doesn’t do much else. It illuminated iChill logo is neither controllable nor fully RGB. These are just aesthetics, so it’s only a matter of personal preference, but what really matters is performance… and the Inno3D iChill X3 GeForce GTX 1080 does deliver in that department.

I checked the price of the Inno3D iChill X3 GeForce GTX 1080 online, and average price is around USD $650.00, which makes it on par if not lower than the ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 AMP Extreme.

Final words

Based on performance alone, the Inno3D iChill X3 GeForce GTX 1080 is right up there with the rest of the best, and competes extremely well when compared against our favourite card… the ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 AMP Extreme.

If you’re a hardcore gaming enthusiast and want an pre-overclocked GeForce GTX 1080 without all the fancy aesthetics at a lower price, then there’s no reason not to consider the Inno3D iChill X3 GeForce GTX 1080.
