Yeelight LED Bulb (White) Review

There’s not much in terms of packaging and contents, just a plain white box with a the Yeelight logo, and inside the LED bulb itself and a brief leaflet with a QR code which directs your phone to download the accompanying app.

All you have to do to start using the Yeelight LED bulb is just to screw it in place and start the app. The downside to the app is you have to either sign in with your Mi account or with you Facebook account.

Once you have signed in you can see the range of Yeelight products the app can control. Selecting the LED bulb (white on in my case) prompted me to switch on the bulb and then enter my home wifi network credentials which the app then send to the LED bulb to store so that it can access your wireless router automatically. Something to point out here is that the Yeelight LED bulb can only access a 2.4GHz wireless network, which I guess is more than faster enough to connect to the bulb and gives you more distance to your wireless router.

The main control interface itself is very simple. The brightness of the screen reflects that of how bright the LED bulb is, slide your finger up and it increases the bulb’s brightness, slide your finger down and the bulb goes dimmer.

The ‘Switch’ button is the on/off switch, and the ‘Favorite’ button bookmarks the brightness you have currently set so that you can go back to it anytime you want.

Don’t be put off by the 2700K rating of the white LED bulb, the light given off is quite white, and definitely whiter than the warm white Philips tornado bulbs I have installed around the home.
