The Funky Kit Team recently attended the Mobile Asia Congress 2010 exhibition in Hong Kong. This year, it's being held at the HKEC (Hong Kong Exhibition Center). It's one of Asia's biggest events for the mobile industry and related businesses. It's an opportunity for vendors to show off some of their new products and services. We're expecting to see new hardware and possibly new mobile phones, tablets, wireless products and mobile devices.

What's more, the 2nd edition of App Planet will be hosted at this year's MAC 2010. It's a chance for Apps developers to meet up, share ideas and learn about cutting-edge products and technology that will define the mobile future. The original App Planet Forum was debuted at Mobile World Congress in February. Here's a little blurb taken from their website ...

As leaders in the industry, Asia drives the momentum for mobile innovation, advancement and adoption. Once again, senior industry leaders will gather in Hong Kong on 17-18 November for the 2010 GSMA Mobile Asia Congress, where they will share their vision and drive the mobile industry forward

Year over year, the GSMA Mobile Asia Congress attracts the highest-quality attendees of any event in the mobile industry. Those looking to network with senior mobile executives or be inspired by mobile operator CEOs know there's no better place to be than MAC.

In 2009, more than 60% of our attendees were C-Level / VP / Directors, and represented 67 countries around the globe.

The 2010 event is shaping up to be even more impressive, with the number of expected attendees doubling to 3,500 mobile leaders.

The Exhibition Show Grounds

We start the coverage of the MAC 2010 with some photos of the exhibition show grounds. I was a little disappointed not to see all the major manufacturers there ... no Samsung, LG, Sony Ericsson, Motorola or Nokia. I was hoping to see some of the new Windows Mobile 7 phones and possibly play with some new Android based tablets. Sadly, this exhibition was more focused on solutions for ISPs, Network Providers and Telecomms Company.
