Harvard researchers have developed self-folding origami. Origami that folds itself? Geez, that is about as lazy as you get….I like it! Next up, self-drinking beer.
Although the team has so far managed to create only simple origami shapes, they say the technique could make tailor-made objects if the size of the triangles is reduced and their number increased. "Imagine foregoing all the tools in your toolbox and instead using a stack of self-folding sheets to produce the tools and st...

Many have waited for NVIDIA's 3D VISION SURROUND Technology with bated breath. The wait is over and NVIDIA can now give its GPU owners a 3x1 multi-display gaming experience; and in 3D too! Does NVIDIA's implementation live up to the expectations of those that have been using competitive technology for eight months?

Finally ...
"Chinese people should soon find it easier to browse the web as domain names written in Chinese win approval. Net address overseer Icann has approved the creation of domains that use only Chinese characters.
The decision builds on earlier work to create internationalised domain names (IDNs) using with non-Latin characters.
The first IDNs were for Arabic scripts and Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were the first to register domains using them.
Icann said firms in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan would soon be issuing domains for people and organisations within their countries that are written with all Chinese scripts.
"One fifth of the world speaks Chinese and that means we just increased the potential online accessibility for roughly a billion people," said Icann head Rod Beckstrom in a statement.
He said the decision goes some way towards addressing the contradiction that 60% of the net's users are non-native English speakers yet the dominant language online is English."

Well that's exactly what you see with Europe's Goce satellite ...
"Goce satellite views Earth's gravity in high definition. It is one of the most exquisite views we have ever had of the Earth. This colourful new map traces the subtle but all pervasive influence the pull of gravity has across the globe.
Known as a geoid, it essentially defines where the level surface is on our planet; it tells us which way is "up" and which way is "down".
 Image taken from theb BBC
It is drawn from delicate measurements made by Europe's Goce satellite, which flies so low it comes perilously close to falling out of the sky.
Scientists say the data gathered by the spacecraft will have numerous applications. One key beneficiary will be climate studies because the geoid can help researchers understand better how the great mass of ocean water is moving heat around the world.
The new map was presented here in Norway's second city at a special Earth observation (EO) symposium dedicated to the data being acquired by Goce and other European Space Agency (Esa) missions."

This site has posted what they claim is leaked Windows 8 info. Could be real, could be fake (the "we need to be like Apple" stuff is suspect to say the least) but who knows. Anyhow, it is always fun to speculate on rumors / leaked info.
Included in these presentations is a rather telling (but obvious) slide which shows that Microsoft is clearly paying attention to Apple while planning Windows 8. Titled, "How Apple does it: A virtuous cycle," Microsoft has broken down Apple's UX/Brand Loya...
