"Update adds PlayStation Plus service and more. With E3 having ended earlier this month, many fans are waiting for the hardware and games announced at the show to hit the market. Sony had some interesting announcements at E3 for its popular game console including new features, games, and hardware.
One of the interesting new features unveiled at this year's E3 was the new PlayStation Plus membership. The membership promises gamers access to exclusive download content and free games among other things. The PlayStation Plus subscription service is now available via a software update which became official today. The update brings the PS3 firmware to version 3.40."
