Probably among the last people you'd think would be making a phone of their own, but it's true. Mozilla, the ever-popular developer of the internet browser Firefox, is venturing out into smartphone territory. Their contribution to this department has been affectionately dubbed, "Boot to Gecko." It will of course be using Firefox as its main internet source, as well as having it serve as the OS. This might seem like a strange thing to the garden variety smartphone user, but it actually offers a convenience to software programmers in that with a Web Based OS you don't have to worry about your programs having any compatability issues with other platforms. Exactly when we'll be seeing the new Mozilla smartphone? Well, it's a bit too early to say, but you can rest assured that Mozilla has jumped in feet first and it looks like they might have some serious potential. Source: CNN
