If the rumor mill is correct, Nvidia will be releasing the consumer GK110 core'd GPU next month. Look for around 2800 shaders and ~85% the performance of the dual-GPU GTX690! The downside is the price tag, estimated at $900. The cores themselves are standard Kepler cores like the GTX600 series, there are lot of them though! Given the price it's hard to say how many will actually sell, the current GTX680 and HD7970 GPUs are enough to run almost any modern game on Ultra at 1080P, and many at 1440P. Initially of course the GK110 was said to be planned as the GTX680, but yield issues and the GK104 core's performance pushed it back. The big question on my mind is, why "GeForce Titan" and not "GTX780"? GK110 die photo below is direct from Nvidia's whitepaper on the GK110.
The die is huge, probably quite expensive just for the silicon! |
