Introduction

At one point or another we have all had the need for serious external storage. Maybe its for a mobile device even. Which furthers the complications of convenient portable storage outside of the format of memory cards and USB flash drives. That's where something like the Patriot Gauntlet Node Wireless 2.5" Hard Disk Enclosure, comes into play.

The Gauntlet Node, blends storage and portability, in a nice pocket sized package. Overall its not much bigger than most of the larger display cellphones on the market these days. It provides both wireless and wired connectivity. Its connectivity options provide support for multiple devices even. So you and your friends and workmates can easily access the stored files at the same time.

So Lets get down to business and see just what Patriot has put in our hands to abuse this week.

We'll be testing the Patriot Gauntlet Node on a mix of hardware today. So that we can make full use of its advertised features. Lets face it a drive setup like this is likely gonna spend its lifetime traveling around between locations and different hardware setups.

For USB 3.0 Direct connection testing we will be using a Core i7 2700k processor, ASUS Maximus IV P67 motherboard, 2x4GB G.Skill RipjawsX 2133-11-11-11-31-1t Ram, ASUS DirectCU 460 GTX GPU, OCZ Vertex2 50GB (boot drive), Western Digital RE4 1TB 7200rpm (storage drive), Antec Earthwatts 750w PSU, in an open air setup.

For Wireless testing we will be using my daily field work hose of a laptop over the last few years. A ASUS G73JH Laptop, With core i7-720QM processor,  Kingston 1600-9-9-9-24-2t memory, ATI Radeon 5870M GPU, 2x Seagate Monumentus XT 500GB 7200rpm drives.
