First Code Academy AppJamming Summit 2016 Finals

The Winners

In my eyes, ALL of the finalists are winners. But the judges pick one lucky team as the winner, with a grand prize of an all inclusive sponsored trip to attend the Global App Inventor Summit organized by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston.

And the winner App is … AllAccess by Cecillia Lam and Venetia Ng. Their App allows users with special needs, disabilities or pregnant women to locate elevators nearest to them.

It will detect your current location and find photos and descriptions of the elevator. Users are also able to submit their own entries of other elevators if not listed/shown.

Well done and congratulations to both Cecillia Lam and Venetia Ng.

All-in-all, I had a fantastic time at the event. I really enjoyed watching these kids showcase their Apps on stage. Remember, they are all 8-15 year old kids. They had to develop the App, create a video demo, and present in front of a large crowd. Most of us would fall apart before we can even write the first line of code. So … WELL DONE to all the finalists. The future is really yours to own and innovate!
