First Code Academy AppJamming Summit 2016 Finals

We were at the Innocenter in Hong Kong on 17th April to cover the Appjamming Summit 2016 Finals. It’s hosted by First Code Academy, which provides hands-on learning opportunities in software development for kids in Asia. The winner gets an all inclusive sponsored trip to attend the Global App Inventor Summit organized by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston.

There were a total of 15 finalists, with ages ranging from 8-16 years old all eager to showcase their mobile apps and games, using the MIT App Inventor.

Interestingly, there was a small booth demoing an Oculus Rift. It was a development kit that they were using to develop a basketball game, which wasn’t too bad.

Overall, it was a pretty good turnout with over 200+ attendees, and it was great to see all the kids’ Apps in action. In the future, I would love to see more events like these.
