HKEF 2016 – WULIAN Specialists in Smart Home Devices

At this year’s HKEF 2016 exhibition, smart home devices are all the rage. There were at least 100+ exhibitors showcasing their devices for the future smart home. So what are smart home devices? Well, they are devices that we normally use at home every day, but with one big difference … they are all connected in one way or another, usually via wifi, bluetooth or otherwise.

So what’s so special about these so called “smart” devices? Well, this is the thing. For as long as I can remember, there’s been talk about the “smart” home of the future. Whereby everything is automated and connected. From refrigerators that can place orders remotely when items are low, to remotely controlling the thermostat of your home.

This is nothing special and it’s been done before … but now imagine you can do all this and more, via your smartphone or mobile device.

All of this brings to Wulian Co. Ltd. which is headquartered  in Nanjing with many subsidiaries in China and other countries. This company makes smart home devices … and lots of them. Including intelligent IP cameras, dust detector, water leak sensor, door bells and smoke alarms that send you text messages, motion detectors that records video footage and send you the feed, as well as smart doors and locks with finger print reader. Here’s a little blurb from their website site

“Wulian is the professional supplier for IoT devices and solutions. Based on the requirements from customers, long-term exploration and unremitting endeavors have been paid in the development and research of IoT sensors, controllers, mobile IoT, Cloud computing and big data. Relying on the overall advantages in object sensing, learning and controlling, Wulian has already grown into one of the most significant promoters in IoT smart home industry. “

What makes Wulian smart home devices different, is that they all use ZigBee wireless technology. What is ZigBee?

“ZigBee is an IEEE 802.15.4-based specification for a suite of high-level communication protocols used to create personal area networks with small, low-power digital radios.” … taken from Wiki.

Mr. Juston Zhu (Vice President of Wulian Co. Ltd) was kind enough to spend a few minutes to talk to us about their latest smart phone products which are launching this year in 2016.

Smart Retina Doorlock

The smart doorlock has a built-in NFC reader, finger-print reader, smart card reader digital keypad … now beat that for security! Users can remotely open the door via remote control on their App. The doorlock has a trigger that can activate several home profiles, such as lighting controls. There’s also options for an IP camera and PIR, and can send messages to user’s mobile device.

I can see smart home devices becoming a huge thing this year … and we’ll see a lot more over the coming months.
