GTRacing Gaming Chair – Impressions after 30 Days

The GTRacing Gaming Chair is, without doubt, one of the most popular budget gaming chairs in the market. The low price probably has a lot to do with it. But what about the rest?

To see if it’s all hype or truth, we decided to test the GTRacing for 30 days. Here’s our findings.

A Look at Its Specifications

The GTRacing chair is a medium sized chair that isn’t really meant for the big and tall. Here are its specs:

Maximum Weight Capacity 300 lbs
Seat Height 17” to 21”
Seat Width and Depth 15” by 20”
Backrest Height 32.5
Tilt and Recline Up to 170° tilt and recline function
Armrests 3D arms – up/down and pivot in/out
External Pillows Detachable and height-adjustable neck and lumbar pillows
Warranty 1-year limited warranty

The chair is available in 7 highlight colors – gray, blue, black, red, purple, white, and black. Upholstered in PU leather, it has a metal frame with a nylon base.

Putting Together the Chair

I have a fairly sensitive sense of smell, so I’m glad that the GTRacing doesn’t have that plasticky chemical smell that new PU leather chairs often have right out of the box.

Unlike some chairs where the main parts already come pre-assembled, you’ll have to assemble every part yourself with the GTRacing. Fortunately, the parts are light so it’s just a one man job. It took me about 40 minutes to get it ready for action.

Chair Comfort and Experience

Being of average build and height, the GTRacing’s seat height range and seat width is just right for me. I’m 5’9” and weigh just under 150 lbs.

The seat cushion is extremely comfortable. It’s soft, but not to the point where it starts to sink under your weight:

The backrest on the GTRacing chair can go back up to 170°. It has a tilt tension control and is lockable at any angle. According to ergonomists, a high recline is really good for your back actually. At least once a day, I recline it all the way and can feel all my back tension just disappear.

The chair is complemented by two external pillows which are attached by straps so you can height-adjust them to hit that sweet spot.

The armrests that come with the GTRacing are 3D. This means that they can move up/down, left/right, and pivot in/out.

I wasn’t expecting to get 3D arms at this price point. I can position them right exactly where I want them whether I’m typing, gaming, or using my mobile phone. They’re not padded but they’re made of soft rubber and have rounded edges.

Warranty

The GTRacing has a decent warranty of 1 year for its price and build quality. I didn’t have any problems with the chair I got so I can’t say for sure how good their customer support is. However, based on the Amazon reviews I’ve seen, they actually uphold the warranty and the customer support replies within 24 hours.

Final Words

After using it for a month, I can say that the GTRacing is comfortable and supportive enough for its price if you have the right build. My favorite features are the 3D arms and the robust recline mechanism. These are things I don’t often see in budget chairs. The ability to rock is a great addition too.

Pros

  • Affordable
  • Several colors to choose from
  • Easy assembly
  • High degree of recline with adjustable tilt tension
  • Rocks even when fully reclined
  • Height-adjustable external pillows
  • 3D arms
  • Good customer support

Cons

  • Not suitable for tall and large users
  • Chair squeaks when getting off
  • Padding in the backrest might be too thin for some
