Intel and AMD working together on new laptop processor.

In spite of being bitter rivals in the CPU market both tech companies are teaming up to bring a hybrid chip consisting of an Intel CPU and AMD Radeon GPU to life, this chip is planned to be used in thin and light laptops in order to bring enough power that users will be able to play high-end games and use powerful productivity apps on their laptop while maintaining a small form factor.

Using a technology dubbed the Embedded Multi-Die Interconnect Bridge (EMIB) the processor will be able to have a CPU, GPU and dedicated VRAM all on the same silicone leading to smaller laptop main boards and in turn smaller laptops in general.

As of now there isn’t a release date for this new chip or any date when laptops will feature the technology Intel and AMD hope to launch it in Q1 of 2018.

Will you be looking forward to this new tech? Be sure to keep it here for all things Tech!
