All New York City Underground Subway Stations now have WiFi

What a welcomed surprise … but about time!

“Losing internet access on the subway will soon be a thing of the past come this weekend.  All 279 underground stations are expected to be Wi-Fi-ready on Saturday.

Earlier this month, MTA chairman Tom Prendergast said the agency would meet its goal of bringing Wi-Fi to all stations by the end of the year.  Riders can connect to the “Transit Wireless Wi-Fi” option on their smartphone or tablet.

The MTA first enabled Wi-Fi at a few stations in Manhattan in 2011. All stations will have cellphone service by early next year. “
