“Huawei MateBook has generated incredible excitement since its launch at Mobile World Congress and attracted rave reviews from technology enthusiasts around the world,” claimed Yanyan Ji, Vice President of Marketing for Huawei Device USA. “MateBook combines the best of a tablet and laptop, and demonstrates the type of premium experience Huawei customers expect and Huawei is known for.”

The dominating feature of the MateBook is its 12-inch IPS display, which features a resolution of 2160×1440. The unibody tablet itself weighs just 1.41 pounds and is available in gray or gold. Base systems come equipped with an Intel Core m3 “Skylake” processor, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD. A fully-loaded model ups the ante with a Core m5 processor, 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD – this will set you back $1,199. There are two additional models in between with varying processor/RAM/storage choices.

Other features included a built-in fingerprint sensor (which supports Windows Hello), USB-C port for charging/connectivity, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and a 33.7Wh lithium-ion battery that is good for up to 9 hours of battery life. And for those of you that despise bloatware (that should be all of us), the MateBook ships with Windows 10 Signature Edition.

Some optional add-ons include the MateBook Keyboard ($129), the Huawei Pen ($59), which supports 2048 levels of pressure and is compatible with Windows Ink, and the Huawei MateDock ($89) which adds two additional USB 3.0 ports, Ethernet, HDMI and VGA connectivity.

“Huawei brings a wealth of experience and expertise in building premium mobile products that fit the needs of today’s mobile consumers,” added Ms. Ji. “MateBook redefines productivity seamlessly integrating work and entertainment in one beautiful device.”

Pre-orders are being taken now via Microsoft’s online and brick and mortar stores, and will be available to order from Amazon and Newegg shortly after its launch date.
