Pica-Pod Review – Adaptive Mounting Solution

A Closer Look

The Pica-Pod is constructed using military grade Aluminium. It features a high strength Aluminium 6061 body with anodized finishing. Weighing it at only 350g, with a total length of 137mm, it’s robust and light-weight, yet it gives you that nice solid and compact feel to it. The Tri-Rails Picatinny design are compatible with all Picatinny clamp devices, and it has a massive load capacity up to 5 kilos!

There are a range of accessories and add-ons available for the Pica-Pod. these include your standard clamps for smartphones and power banks, ball-joints, rounded  C-Clamps, a larger tripod with anti-slip rubber feet – perfect for heavier devices. The Pica-Pod is available in 4 colours … Silver, Black, Gold and Gun-metal grey.

Hands-on Usage

When the guys at Pica-Gear told us that the Pica-Pod can support a full size DSLR camera using the ball-joint provided, I was a little skeptical. But how wrong was I! Not only did the Pica-Pod supported the full weight of the Nikon DSLR camera, it had room to mount an iPad mini, PLUS a power bank too!

Most popular configurations are shown below. You can mount a 360 camera at the top using the ball-joint, with 2 additional clamps. One for a smartphone and the other for a power bank. Additionally, you can also mount a directional (shotgun) microphone as well. This is pretty much a full setup for any users on the go.
