In today’s mobile world … smartphones and tablets are becoming thinner and more powerful, and so the battery capacity of these devices becomes a major concern for manufacturers. There’s only enough space for a small battery that offers limited capacity. So if you are a power user (ie always on your phone), the only way to compensate is to get yourself a power bank.
Thanks to my good old friend at the office, we’ll be taking a look at the Xiaomi 16000 mAh Power Bank Portable Charger. With a rated capacity of 16000 mAh, it’s the largest power bank that Xiaomi has to offer, and comes with 2 USB ports which has a maximum output of 5.1V/3.6A.
What does all this mean? It means you can charge upto 5 x iPhone 6 (full charge), or equivalent to 2.5 x iPad Mini or 3.5 x Note 4. Now that’s pretty impressive!
It’s only a power bank … so what’s so special about it? Well, it’s not only about the Xiaomi power bank … it’s the story behind why I need one. There have been many times when I have ran out of juice on my iPhone 5S, which is notorious for battery life (the iPhone 6 is a bit better). So what do I do? Well, the only thing I can do is to invest in a decent quality and affordable power bank with enough capacity for at least 2-3 full charges … meet the Xiaomi 16000 mAh Power Bank Portable Charger.

Verdict and Conclusion
Over the past several years, Xiaomi has been aggressively attacking the mobile and smartphone market with huge success. In fact, they’ve sold over 70 million phones last year in 2015, now that’s an impressive number. Riding on this success, it then pursued to enter the consumer electronics market … selling media boxes, power banks and fitness bands.
I must admit, when I first heard about the Xiaomi making power banks, I was skeptical about the true charging capacity and build quality. I knew Xiaomi make decent Android smartphones … but power banks? Anyway, to my surprise, the Xiaomi 16000 mAh Power Bank really delivered … both in build quality and total charging capacity.
With a rated capacity of 16000 mAh for Xiaomi largest power bank, it can charge upto 5 x iPhone 6 (full charge), or equivalent to 2.5 x iPad Mini or 3.5 x Note 4. Now that’s pretty amazing!
Costing around USD $29, it’s extremely affordable and to be honest … a MUST have! This is one accessory I will definitely take with me during my travels, especially when I hit Computex Taiwan. The problem with your smartphone running out of juice …Gone!
