EpicGear Melodiouz Analog In-Ear Gaming Headset Review

Design & Comfort

The Melodiouz comes with 3 sets of silicone earbuds in different sizes to suit your needs. Removing the silicone and replacing the silicone earbuds were pretty straight forward, and the design of them are very standard; so if you want to replace these silicone earbuds with something a bit more luxurious or a slightly different shape to fit your earholes more snuggly, just go ahead.

Weighing in at just 31.3 grammes, the Melodiouz is very lightweight, as expected with a pair of in-ear headphones. Just as a comparison, the pair of Sennheiser Momentum In-Ears I use on my daily commute to work weighs in at 16 grammes, so the Melodiouz is nearly twice in weight as you factor in the microphone boom and slightly chunkier in-line remote control.

Thumbs up to EpicGear to have chosen to use a flat style cabling for the Melodiouz, it indeeds does look very appealing with its vivid red against the blank in-line remote control and tiny drivers, but more importantly for me is how the cabling will not tangle as much. I must have wasted hours of my life untangling headphone cables after I’ve gotten out of my pockets.

Worried about a big fat microphone sitting out of a tiny pair on in-ear headphones? Need not worry as the microphone boom on the Melodiouz is detachable. The boom is fully flexible with a omni-directional microphone built in on the end, so you can shape it to your hearts content to get it to pick up your voice perfectly.

Remote Control

One of the frustrations of using a pair of headphones with an in-line remote control is getting the buttons to work on different smartphones. EpicGear nows that there are no complete solution for this, one button will perform different with different smartphones, so they have released a small file highlighting what each button on the in-line remote control on the Melodiouz can do with different phones:

It’s no wonder manufacturers release so many versions of each of their range of headphones, just taking a look at the Android section above you can see there are so many incompatibilities there.
