Aerocool DS-230 Tower Chassis Review

Closer Look – Exterior

Exterior of Aerocool DS-230 looks simple but it’s actually an advantage. Everything is black except stripes under which are LEDs and Aerocool logo on the front.

Painting of the exterior is also good. It feels somehow “soft” in touch. Those who were painting anything with Plasti Dip know what I mean. Simply you can feel it’s good quality painting.

Sides have no windows but you can buy one if you really want. It’s only an option and DS-230 comes without it.

On the top there is a cover which has magnetic bottom so it’s not hard to remove if we wish to have more airflow in the case or install additional fans or radiator.

Front also looks simple but stylish. It’s made of plastic but has brushed aluminum effect. There are also LED stripes but I will tell some more about lighting later.

On the top of the front panel there are power and reset buttons but also button to control LED lighting. There are four modes: auto, on, breathing and off.

Except mentioned buttons on the top panel there are also USB ports ( two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0/3.1 ) and two 3.5″ audio jacks to connect headset.

Above you can see material used on the sides of the case to reduce noises. This and thick steel build are helping to keep PC quiet.

On the back of the DS-230 there are no surprises. We can see typical ATX tower case layout with PSU on the bottom and one fan on the upper side, above the CPU area.

On the bottom of the case there is however anti-dust filter which is getting more popular but mainly in higher series chassis. Below you can see how it looks like. It takes space which is covering PSU air intake so is blocking all the dust. You start to care about things like that after couple of months of using a PC, especially when you have a carpet in your room.

Let’s move to the next page where we take a closer look at the interior of the DS-230 case.
