Aerocool DS Cube micro ATX Chassis Review

Closer Look

Exterior, as you can see on the below photos, looks great. Sides, bottom and back of the case are painted black. Top and front are made of orange, smooth in touch plastic. Sides are hard to scratch and the same as all other parts of the chassis, is hard to see fingerprints. At the end you feel like the product is better than used materials could say.

On the top there are easily accessible I/O ports and buttons. We can find four USB, mic and HD Audio ports but also storage activity indicator.

DS Cube is standing on a rubber, skidproof pads. Also this side of the case looks good. You can’t really see it but there is also dust filter. I will tell you some more about it a bit later.

Top panel can be replaced as I already mentioned earlier. You can see how it looks like on the attached photos below. It’s really great option as those who need additional airflow can adjust panel for their needs. It’s also easy to replace and doesn’t require any tools.

Interior is quite roomy. Even without additional fans, it should have enough airflow for more power hungry builds. Around the panels are ventilation holes which you can probably see on the first photos when I mentioned exterior of the chassis. Lower heat also means less noise what is of course an advantage.

PSU bay is not as big as we wish but it still has more space than competitive products. I mean in the popular designs like Bitfenix Prodigy there is constant problem to use any higher power PSU. Here there it shouldn’t be an issue. Since I mentioned PSU then under the PSU is dust filter. You can remove it without opening the case what is a good feature.

In the PSU bay there are additional rubber stands that let PSU “breathe” and reduce any noise which could come from vibrations.

All cables so USB, power, reset and LEDs are quite long so shouldn’t be an issue to hide them. There are also additional USB 3.0 connectors.

Hard drive trays are designed to support both 2.5″ and 3.5″ HDD/SSD. There are also additional 2.5″ bays next to PSU. For all drives there are rubber guides/rings which reduce any vibrations. In case of SSD we don’t have to worry about it but some HDD may cause vibrations.

Since you can install motherboard horizontally then you don’t have to worry about even the heaviest cooling solutions or really large graphics cards. There is also easier access to all components and good airflow. DS Cube supports graphics cards up to 350mm length so about every available desktop graphics card on the market.

From other features worth to mention are 3.5″ and 5.25″ bays. Nothing is unusual here and I bet that all know what to expect. Optical drive or fan controller can be installed in the 5.25″ bay while 3.5″ bay supports HDD or other devices like card readers.

I’ve had one for almost three years. Everything is great except it is a nightmare to clean! That colored plastic/rubber is so difficult to clean. I live in high humidity and there is a dirt junk that builds up that is so hard to remove. I have sent an e-mail to the company about the best way to clean it up but no answer.
