Building AMD Ryzen mini ITX Gaming PC with Alphacool Water Cooling

Closer Look at the CPU Cooling and the Performance

First idea was to install the Eisbaer with a 120mm radiator ( which you can see above ) but if we wish to use also the graphics card in the loop then better will be a 240mm radiator. Version with 120mm radiator is still performing good so if you are not planning to install water cooling on the graphics card then it should be more than enough for any AMD Ryzen processor.

Here are couple of photos with already removed easy-release connectors which come with the Eisbear and Eiswolf coolers ( you can see them with the radiator photos below ). They’re great but in this small space we would have problems to install them. Better option for this build seem custom length tubes and compression fittings which are also in the Alphacool offer.

The Eisbaer fits perfectly to AM4 socket. In the stores can be still Eisbaer boxes without AM4 mounting kit but it’s also available separately and should be the same as Eisblock AM4 mounting kit.

As I mentioned, we’ve decided to install the 240mm radiator and for that Alphacool NexXxos seems to be the perfect choice. It’s a radiator made of copper which is also one of the best in its class on the market. Simply can’t go wrong with that radiator.

Fans used in this build are also Alphacool. The Eiswind 120mm fans were part of the Eisbaer 120 CPU cooler. Below you can see how are they performing on 120 and 240mm radiators.

In the comparison are the best air coolers for AM4 socket made by Noctua. As you see, the Eisbaer is offering better performance than the best Noctua cooler. It’s not a big difference on this build but it still counts, especially that the price of both cooling solutions is similar.

We have to remember that except performance also generated noise counts. In this case the best air and water cooling results were achieved at similar noise level and in both cases it was really quiet.

However Noctua NH-D15 cooler is to big to install it in our PC case, especially that we still need radiator for graphics card. Simply Alphacool solution is way better option.

Since I mentioned graphics card, let’s check how the Eiswolf looks like …
