Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO V2 CPU Cooler Review

Conclusion and Verdict

Just from looking them I can tell if an Air cooler is going to be good or not. I know that sounds bad but when you have seen and used so many different ones, you kind of get any idea of what will work or won’t. Air coolers are easy to asses. Cooper, the most thermal conductive material on an Air cooler. How much of it is there, Does it directly contact the CPU? These two thing can greatly effect the cooling capabilities. The more of either, will increase the capabilities of the cooler. You may think I am crazy but I have taped the sides of my cooler before so every bit of air was pushed passed the heat pipes. Having an open fin design will help with keeping other components cool though. Honestly, heat is very rarely going to make it to the edge of fins. Most of the heat displacement and cooling takes place on the copper heatpipes. So the better you can cool the copper the better results you will get.

So, how did the Hyper 212 EVO V2 do? The things I liked: I liked the amount of heatpipe. The length was plenty to keep the CPU cool. I have seen a couple complaints about the copper being separated on the heat sink. I am totally fine with this. Because each piece of cooper is directly contacting the CPU. I would have only been concerned if half of the outside pipes weren’t touching the CPU. Not the case though. The only improvement I could see, was adding a 5th heatpipe!! I also really like the SickleFlow fans. These fans are quite and move a decent amount of air at 1800RPM. I also found the mounting hardware easy to use. The only thing to note if you find yourself getting this cooler, is when you put on the backplate and the mounting screws, it may seem loose but all that goes away when you secure the cooler to the brackets. Lastly, I really like to see staggered heatpipes. That way cool air hits each pipe. You don’t want a wind block. Now as you may have seen in earlier pictures this coolers heatpipes are positioned in a line, but wait, there’s more! They are using what they call X-vents. I can’t test it so I will just trust the science. As long as the air moves as depicted below I am a fan! The things I disliked: Welp! this will be quick and easy, Nothing. Everything about this cooler checked the right boxes.
