CRYORIG A40 AIO CPU Cooler Review

Performance

Performance has been tested on the Intel i7-7700K processor and Supermicro C7Z270-GC motherboard.

There are three values. First is idle what is quite obvious but I will only add it’s system without any additional load, just typical services running in the background. Mixed load is based on PCMark8 tests so is showing mixed load in popular home and office applications. Last test is full CPU load based on AIDA64 CPU and FPU stability test.

In all tests processor was running at 1.2V with little voltage drop under load. This voltage is enough to set 4.8GHz on most i7-7700K.

As we can see in our tests, the A40 performs great but in the same time we’ve already gathered couple of competitive solutions which are not much worse. Most of higher series AIO CPU coolers offer similar performance. The main difference is how much noise each cooler makes to achieve these results.

The A40 is not really silent. Especially at above 1000 RPM we can hear the fan. On the other hand it’s not generating much noise and in mixed test we could barely hear the fans. As I mentioned earlier, fans never reached maximum of 2200 RPM. In all tests maximum that we’ve seen was a bit above 1600 RPM. Clearly cooler could keep reasonable temperature at lower fan speed what of course affects generated noise.

Performance of the A40 is really good. However, if you have large PC case and space for 280mm radiator then I recommend the A80 as its performance is better and fans don’t spin so fast.

CRYORIG A40 is clearly worth recommendation if you are looking for well performing CPU cooler.
