Scythe Mugen 5 Tower CPU Cooler Review

Closer Look

The Mugen 5 has similar design to older version but it’s not hard to notice there were made various improvements. On the photos you can see that heatsink is assymetric what helps in installation of any memory kit even if fan is installed.

We could install Mugen 5 even on the really small MSI Z170I Gaming Pro AC motherboard. Even though it’s full of additional controllers and connectors and has additional heatsinks, there were no issues to install Mugen 5 and switch memory kits. For tests has been used Corsair Vengeance LED DDR4-3200 memory kit which is one of the tallest memory kits on the market.

Bottom of the cooler has mirror finish. You can see that on the photo above. Also all fins seem to be a bit thicker than in earlier series what gives feeling of higher quality.

Heatpipe amount remains without changes and it’s still six. It fills whole surface which is touching CPU so it’s just a perfect amount of heatpipes.

Installation is quite simple and all tools required for that are included in the package.

Scythe Mugen 5 looks great but how does it perform ? Answer to this question you can find on the next page.
