Scythe Mugen MAX SCMGD-1000 CPU Cooler Review

Installation

Installing the Mugen Max SCMGD-1000 was easy. You use the stock AMD backplate, add the necessary top brackets, clip the brace to the heatsink and you are prepped and ready to tighten some screws. The key hole through the heatsink is fantastic and should be required for all cooler! Scythe does include a small wrench but it is not necessary to use if you have a long Phillips screwdriver. Once you have thermal paste applied, line up the heatsink bracket and hold firmly then simply tighten the screws to the backplate bracket till the are snug. Very easy install nothing had to be removed and the entire process was quite painless.

User-friendly Installation

The mounting system found in our Mugen 4 can also be found here – the proven H.P.M.S (Hyper Precision Mounting System) makes easy mounting possible – requiring less work steps along the way. This brilliant concept allows fitting the Mugen MAX without having to demount the motherboard.

Maximum Compatibility

The asymmetrical assembly of the base plate results in a comfortable clearance to the memory banks of the motherboard after mounting the heatsink. Putting to use memory modules fitted with extremely high hetasinks and replacing them is possible without having to remove the fan or the hetasink.

(Depending on the layout, not applicable to all eight memory banks for LGA 2011 motherboards)
