ADATA Premier Pro 16GB DDR4-2133 CL15 Memory Review

Today we wish to present one of the ADATA DDR4 memory kits. The tested memory is from the consumer series, Premier, which is specified to run at DDR4-2133 CL15. These basic DDR4 kits have been on the market for some time so they should be easily available. ADATA has also recently announced the XPG Z1 DDR4 which I have hopes to see on Funky Kit soon.

Many users are probably interested to see how much memory performance difference can make in their system or if the lower clocked memory is good enough for their daily work. I hope this review will answer at least part of those questions related to which to buy for the expensive but top performing Intel X99 platform.

The new DDR4 standard represents a substantial upgrade to JEDEC’s dynamic random access memory (DRAM) standard, with numerous changes designed to lower power consumption while delivering higher density and bandwidth within the memory subsystem.

High speed and low voltage of DDR4 module
Doubled bandwidth, along with reduced voltage and dramatically lower power consumption, improves performance and optimizes the total cost of ownership (TCO). ADATA DDR4’s provides enhanced reliability, availability, serviceability (RAS), and improved signal integrity (S/I).

 

   

 

Increase performance for higher bandwidth
ADATA DDR4 delivers higher performance at a higher speed than DDR2 and DDR3. ADATA DDR4 shows overall performance improvement in every DIMM and approximately 30 percent better performance at 1 DIMM per channel.

Reduce power usage for greener, lower-cost computing
A major decrease in voltage and the improved input/output (I/O) power efficiency of DDR4 synchronous dynamic RAM (SDRAM) translates into significant cost savings. ADATA DDR4 modules operate at 1.2V, a voltage that is 11 percent lower than the 1.35V consumed by DDR3L. DDR4 consumes 37 percent less power than DDR3L when running an identical process at the same speed. DDR4 adopts a Pseudo Open Drain (POD) interface to reduce I/O power consumption and increase power savings by 50 percent compared to DDR3L under 4Gb-based 16GB 2 DIMMs per channel (DPC) conditions.
