Performance
Performance has been measured on already mentioned ASUS Rampage V Extreme motherboard and Core i7 5820K processor what is popular platform so shouldn’t cause any issues to compare results to your home computers. Additionally processor clock has been raised to 4.2GHz and cache clock to 3500MHz. This setting is easy to reach on every available X99 motherboard and is letting us easier to see differences in performance between memory kits. After all X99 platform has been designed for computer enthusiasts and overclockers.
AIDA64 Cache and Memory benchmark
Starting from AIDA64 we see that performance of the Crucial Ballistix Elite DDR4-2666 is about as high as other DDR4-2666 memory kits. In daily usage we for sure won’t see any difference. The highest difference we can observe in memory read bandwidth what can affect various benchmark scores.
HyperPi 32M
HyperPi 32M result looks really good considering that Crucial Elite has pretty relaxed main timings. Result is about as high as G.Skill DDR4-2800 memory and not much worse than the G.Skill DDR4-2666 CL15.
Cinebench R11.5 & R15
Cinebench results are also good. Actually one of the better in the comparison. Only Kingston Predator DDR4-3000 CL15 memory achieved better results in both benchmarks.
PCMark8
In PCMark8 results are similar to other DDR4-2666 memory kits so maybe not really high but at the respectable level. Differences in this benchmark are showing clearly what I already mentioned, that during daily work we won’t see the difference between all DDR4-2666 or even higher clocked memory kits.
3DMark Fire Strike Extreme
3DMark Fire Strike Extreme results performed on GTX970 graphics card are showing similar story as we could see in PCMark8. Differences between all higher memory kits are not really high. However we can tell that Crucial Ballistix Elite DDR4-2666 is performing good.
In general, performance of Crucial Ballistix Elite DDR4-2666 memory kit is really good and I think that all who decide to buy this memory won’t be disappointed.
