G.Skill Sniper X 16GB DDR4-3600 Memory Kit Review

Specifications and Features

There are many memory kits from Sniper-X series so I will only add that tested memory kit has product number F4-3600C19D-16GSXF. It’s the easiest way to find memory kit on the G.Skill website or in online stores.

8GB memory modules are single rank what usually helps in overclocking but I guess that most users won’t need higher frequency as DDR4-3600 is already high profile.

The Sniper X runs without issues on our test motherboard – SuperMicro C7Z370-CG-IW. Above is a screenshot from AIDA64 stability test which is loading memory in about 95-97%. Since we were performing many other tests then I didn’t want to waste time on longer stability test. During other tests were no issues with stability.

What is also worth to mention is that reviewed memory also runs fine on AMD Ryzen. Using ASRock X370 Gaming ITX/ac motherboard, we were able to run the Sniper X DDR4-3600 using XMP profile but because of AMD architecture, it was working at CL20. Still really good result considering how hard is to set anything above DDR4-3200 on AMD, especially using memory kits which are not designed for this platform.

Package and its Contents

Sniper X memory series is packed in a plastic blister. It’s really popular package type for memory kits which gives good protection and takes not much space. Inside the package, we will find a small sticker with G.Skill logo and of course the memory. Nothing is required to install our new memory. The installation manual is in every motherboard manual so it’s also not a must. Most users will handle this process without any manual as it’s really simple and I guess I don’t have to explain it.

As we can see on the photos above, Sniper X series has no LED or other lighting. It still looks unique and there is part of the users who will be happy to see a design like this. I don’t think any other brand has camo design of their memory kits. As G.Skill pointed out, it fits multiple motherboard series like ASUS TUF or MSI Armor.

Our memory kit is Classic Camo so as G.Skill says: “Inspired by the classic jungle green camouflage design, this pattern brings out the FPS style from inside your gaming system.”

As with most higher memory series, PCB is high quality and is black. Heatsinks are made of aluminum what is also nothing unusual.

Let’s move to the next page to take a closer look at the performance.
