G.Skill Trident Z 2x16GB DDR4-3200 CL15 Memory Kit Review

Specifications and Features

TRZ_32GB_spc

Trident Z DDR4-3200 memory kit has only one XMP profile which works without issues on ASRock Z170 OC Formula and MSI Z170I Gaming Pro AC motherboards. Standard SPD profile will set memory to DDR4-2133 what is pretty common in all DDR4 memory kits.

Below you can see SPD/XMP profile and memory stability test in AIDA64. Trident Z is perfectly stable.

G.Skill is using Samsung IC in the latest memory series which has high overclocking potential and on that we are also counting.

Box and Packaging

Trident Z memory has arrived in a retail package. We’ve seen the same package many times already as all dual channel Trident Z memory kits have exactly the same package. In this case you can see additional sticker saying that inside is black/silver memory kit instead of what you see on the picture in “original” color scheme so red, silver and black.

On the back of the package you will find general description of the Trident Z series, product and serial numbers and contact to G.Skill support which is already legendary. Personally I had no issues with G.Skill memory and I also haven’t heard anything bad about their support what I can’t say about competition.

Below you can see memory modules. Silver and black color scheme looks great and should match many new motherboards. I know that many users are happy because of additional colors of Trident Z memory. I can say finally as for many months was available only version with red top.

I don’t think I have to say more how memory looks like. You can see it on the photos below and at least for me it’s one of the best looking memory kits on current market.

Now maybe some more about memory itself. Tested kit is based on two 16GB modules. Considering it’s capacity, used XMP profile has really tight timings. Not many memory manufacturers decide to release memory at these settings. I don’t think I’ve seen any competitive products at similar settings.

Under the heatsinks you can expect to find Samsung IC. Probably only Samsung chips are capable to run at so tight timings and high frequency without need to use high voltage. Similar situation we can see in lower capacity memory kits. All high frequency memory kits from Trident Z series are based on Samsung IC and there are many DDR4-3733+ memory kits in mass sales.
