Conclusion and Verdict
I never would have thought, that running memory modules in XMP mode can be so troublesome, especially with AMD Ryzen motherboards.
Most of the XMP-ready memory kits available on the market, are designed for Intel motherboards, so you would expect them to work on AMD motherboards too. Yes and no … yes, they will work to a certain extent, but not in XMP mode and definitely not to the rated speeds. Most will run at the default speeds of DDR4-2133 or DDR4-2666, any higher you might run into issues.
To solve these issues, manufacturers are starting to produce memory kits that are AMD Ryzen Certified … and GEIL is one of them. Their EVO X II AMD Edition DDR4-3000 16GB Memory Kits are not only AMD Ryzen Certified, but also fully XMP-ready. Which means, all you have to do is to select XMP profile on your motherboard’s BIOS, and they will run perfectly with optimized timings, voltages and so forth. With a nice gun metal heatspreader and amazing RGB LED effects, these GEIL EVO X II AMD Edition DDR4-3000 16GB Memory Kits is a must have for any hardcore gaming enthusiasts. They not only look great, but offer very good performance, plus they’re AMD Ryzen certified.
