Disclaimer: Overclocking is never guaranteed, so that the results may vary depending on certain conditions and various hardware configurations. I am not recommending overclocking if you do not know what you are doing. High voltages may damage hardware, and the warranty will not cover it.

Since in this review has been used the ASUS Strix B550-XE Gaming motherboard, then the overclocking was limited. We focused on the settings using a 1:1 IMC/IF ratio and providing the best performance. If we used a top memory overclocking motherboard like ASUS Strix B550-I Gaming, then we could pass DDR4-5200, the same as on the previously reviewed HyperX Predator DDR4-4600 memory kit, but we would be limited to two memory slots while we wanted to keep the same motherboard for the comparison.

Depends on the used motherboard, we can count on as high frequency as DDR4-5200+ at CL20. On more popular gaming motherboards, we should be able to set DDR4-4800 CL18 or tighten the timings at DDR4-4600. If we want to use four memory modules, we will be limited to about DDR4-4266 or DDR4-4400. DDR4-4600 could boot but was highly unstable because of the memory controller.

The DDR4-4933 CL20 already required a lower FCLK what provided a decrease in some benchmark results.

The recommended setting for a 16GB memory kit is DDR4-4800 CL18 which runs at 1.55V, so not much above the XMP profile. The recommended setting for two memory kits will be DDR4-4400 CL18 at a 1.45V. Tighter timings are possible but won’t improve the performance much and require higher voltages, so they are not always worth it.

The FURY Renegade lets us set a wide range of frequencies and timings. Even without overclocking, results are great, so it should satisfy all gamers.

 


 

 

Conclusion and Verdict

Kingston successfully replaced well-known HyperX RAM with the new FURY series, delivering the same top quality and performance in a refreshed product line.

The new products should fully satisfy gamers and enthusiasts as their performance is exceptional and additionally offer high overclocking potential.

The FURY Renegade provides an amazing RGB illumination that can be controlled by FURY CTRL software. The most interesting is infrared synchronization which makes the illumination exactly the same on all memory modules, without delays known from some other brands.

During the tests, were no problems with the compatibility or stability of FURY Renegade memory kits. The memory was tested on motherboards with AMD B550 and X570 chipsets but also Intel Z590.

The price of FURY Renegade DDR4-4600 isn’t low, but it’s still acceptable. All higher frequency memory kits are expensive, so that we couldn’t count on a low price. However, the $260 is still reasonable for the 16GB DDR4-4600 memory kit, and it’s lower than some competitive brands ask for their products.

Excellent performance, great compatibility and superb stability … this is what you get if you decide to go for the FURY Renegade RGB 16GB DDR4-4600 memory kit. And what’s more, if you include the amazing RGB lighting effects, high overclocking potential and the reasonably affordable price, then you will get a near perfect product. I’m sure that all gamers and enthusiasts who decide on the FURY Renegade series will be extremely satisfied.
