Kingston HyperX Beast DDR3-2400 C11 16GB Memory Kit Review

Performance

It’s time for performance stage so as usual popular memory benchmarks whose are best to show memory transfers difference.

Please keep in mind that HyperX Beast is the only 16GB kit in this comparison what also means that because of higher density it operates at more relaxed sub-timings.

MaxxMem v1.99

HyperX Beast performs in MaxxMem about as good as previously reviewed HyperX Predator memory. Transfers are high even though Kingston has programmed more relaxed sub-timings. Predator memory has slightly better results but overall both Kingston kits are comparable.

AIDA64 Cache and Memory benchmark

 aida64gr

AIDA64 is showing us similar results so Kingston Predator and G.Skill TridentX are slightly faster than Kingston Beast memory. Simply all DDR3-2400 kits perform really good and probably only CPU speed is limiting them to achieve higher transfers.

SuperPi 32M

SuperPi 32M doesn’t look as good as two previous tests. It’s the only benchmark in our comparison which is actually showing advantage of tighter sub-timings of HyperX Predator and G.Skill TridentX memory kits. It doesn’t change much in daily usage but overclockers care about couple of seconds in tests like SuperPi.

Overclocking

I wasn’t able to set higher memory clock than 1200MHz ( DDR3-2400 ). However, I could set much tighter timings what gives even better results in this case than 1300MHz ( DDR3-2600 ) memory clock at more relaxed timings.

As we see HyperX Beast can run at 1200MHz 10-12-12-30 and command rate 1N at 1.65V what is standard voltage for this memory. This is actually quite good result for 2x8GB kit.

Both MaxxMem and AIDA64 benchmarks are showing really high performance after tweaking memory settings.

Both results also look like could be even higher while tested on faster processor. Memory controller’s speed in Ivy Bridge CPUs is highly dependant from CPU frequency so actual performance may raise above 4.5GHz CPU clock.
