Patriot Intel Extreme Master 2x4Gb 2133MHz Memory Review

If you have been keeping up with memory as of late it seems like most of the premium memory kits out there are built for maximum frequency. Ivy Bridge processors have a rocking memory controller and memory companies want to put that to good use.

Up until recently Patriot had been pretty calm on the high frequency memory front. But with a redesign of their memory lines it was only natural that they would jump on the high frequency bandwagon.

Patriot was kind enough to send a 2x4gb set of their newest memory, the Intel Extreme Masters line.

These sticks will of course run on AMD platforms, but they are fine tuned for the Ivy Bride memory controller.

According to the XMP profile of these sticks, they come in at 2133mhz with 11-11-11 timings using 1.5v.

This should be plenty fast for most people. It might even be overkill if your day to day computer activities involve browsing the internet and playing an occasional game. But for those that crave extra speed these sticks could be just for you.

Further in the review they will be pushed beyond spec to see what they can really do with a top of the line Ivy bridge processor and Z77 motherboard.

The current testing platform for this memory is:

  • Intel Core i7 3770K
  • Asus Maximus V Gene Motherboard
  • Patriot 2x4Gb Intel Extreme Master memory
  • MSI Radeon 7970 Lightning
  • Custom water loop
  • Navig Benching station

Lets go and take a look at what Patriot has to say about these limited edition memory sticks.
