Patriot Signature Line 64GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM Laptop Memory Kit Review

Package and its Contents

The Signature Line memory arrived in retail packaging. Since this memory is sold as single modules, then we had to use two, the same modules to make our dual-channel kit. Modules have a quite popular plastic package that says what we can find inside but doesn’t have space on the long product description. Most users won’t need anything more.

Inside, we will find only memory modules, and it’s fine as the installation is straightforward, and there is no configuration at all. The laptop should automatically set everything as in the SPD profile.

Modules are not much different than any other DDR4 SODIMM. On the PCB are 16 memory chips and modules are double-sided, dual-rank. It’s clear considering a huge 32GB per module capacity.

Some readers may say that the specification isn’t any special as the DDR4-3200 CL22 looks relatively standard if we compare it to desktop gaming memory kits. However, as I mentioned, laptops are usually not supporting XMP or manual memory adjustments, including voltages. It makes it really hard to design memory modules at significantly tighter timings. There are competitive DDR4 SODIMM at DDR4-3200 CL16, but if we take a closer look, then we will see that all of them have XMP profiles, and users who missed that are complaining around the web. There are no problems like that with Patriot DDR4 SODIMM, which are designed for optimal compatibility and stability.

Our tests were performed on the Ryzen 4000 platform, which, even though the latest, then is limited to DDR4-3200 memory. The Signature Line memory seems optimal for this platform and considering minimal competition on the higher frequency SODIMM market, then it is also recommended for all new laptops.

Above, you can see a couple of photos on the test platform while on the next page, we will tell you some more about the performance.
