The Viper 4 Blackout DDR4-3600 memory is using Hynix M-die IC. Memory chips are rebranded, and popular software like Thaiphoon Burner can’t read the memory IC. Still, every software is showing Hynix IC, and only the M-die fits this modern specification.

Since there are no 128GB DDR4-3600 memory kits in Patriot’s offer, then we had to use two 64GB DDR4-3600 kits, which are based on exactly the same memory chips and share specification. Stability tests are showing no problems in our memory. Below is a 7-Zip benchmark, which is really demanding and uses as much RAM as is available. On the screenshot, there is nearly all RAM in use that proves memory stability at XMP settings. The test was performed on the Comet Lake-S platform, which contains ASRock Z490 PG Velocita motherboard.

Package and its Contents

The Viper 4 Blackout 64GB DDR4-3600 arrived in a retail packaging, which is a small, flat box. The box is well described, so we clearly know what is inside.

Our memory kit is designed for AMD and Intel platforms, but such high capacity will work only on the latest chipsets. I highly recommend Intel Z490, AMD X570, or AMD B550 motherboards. Intel’s B460 chipset will support 32GB memory modules but won’t run at specified DDR4-3600.

Inside the box, we will find two memory modules and a Viper Gaming sticker. Since this product is straightforward to install, then we don’t need anything else.

The Viper 4 Blackout has a unique design. It’s about the same as earlier Patriot Viper 4 series but is the whole black with lighter and darker tones. I guess that this memory will especially fit the new MSI Unify motherboard series, which is designed to be also the whole black.

Not all users like RGB lighting, and we won’t find it in the Blackout memory series. It doesn’t mean that the memory looks standard. It just exceptional, but of course, not everyone may like the design. It still should fit most gaming computers and presents well on every motherboard.

Our test rigs are covering most of the memory module parts. The whole 128GB was tested on a different setup, so photos below are mostly to show how the memory fits. The Blackout isn’t tall, so it should provide under most large air cooling solutions. On the photos below, you can see how much space is when Noctua NH-D15 is installed and also a water cooling, which, of course, won’t cause any interference. In case if we have a cooler that causes some problems, then we can always remove the top from the memory module what will save a couple of millimeters.

On the next page, there are some test results on the mentioned Comet Lake-S platform.
