Patriot Viper RGB 16GB DDR4-3600 Memory Kit Review

Overclocking

Disclaimer: Overclocking is never guaranteed so that the results may vary depending on certain conditions and various hardware configurations. I am not recommending overclocking if you do not know what are you doing. High voltages may damage hardware, and it will not be covered by warranty.

Overclocking tests were performed on a bit different setup, which supposed to give the highest possible results, but in reality, we couldn’t achieve more than on the Ryzen 3600 CPU and ASRock X570 Extreme4 motherboard. The test platform includes Ryzen 3700X CPU and ASUS Crosshair VIII Impact motherboard.

Considering the fact that not all processors will run at DDR4-3800 with Infinity Fabric divider set to 1:1 with memory, then our target was DDR4-3733. At this clock, the Viper RGB DDR4-3600 can run at 16-19-19 and 1.35V. Higher voltage helps to lower the CL down to 14 but not additional timings what doesn’t give us significant performance gain.

The maximum memory clock possible on our memory kit is DDR4-4600 and quite tight timings for this clock – CL18-24-24-46. The memory required 1.5V to run at these settings, so also still reasonable value. Because of the Ryzen 3000 architecture, we can expect that these settings will be as fast as DDR4-3600 CL16, so for most users, it’s not worth the time spent on stability tests.
