Silicon Power XPower Turbine 16GB DDR4-3200 Memory Kit Review

Overclocking

Disclaimer: Overclocking is never guaranteed so that the results may vary depending on certain conditions and various hardware configurations. I am not recommending overclocking if you do not know what are you doing. High voltages may damage hardware, and it will not be covered by warranty.

The XPower Turbine DDR4-3200 uses Samsung B-die IC. This IC is well known of it’s overclocking potential but it’s never guaranteed. I guess we didn’t have luck as our memory kit couldn’t make more than DDR4-3600 CL17-19-19 1.40V. It’s still additional performance for free but as I already mentioned. It won’t change the performance of whole PC so it’s not always worth the time spent on stability tests and various settings.

All other results were already added to the comparison on the previous page of this review. In short, we can count on DDR4-3333 and 3466 at XMP settings so CL16-18-18 1.35V. Of course, you can also have more luck and your memory kit can pass DDR4-4000. It’s all matter of luck.

Conclusion and Verdict

Silicon Power XPower Turbine 16GB DDR4-3200 is a well-designed, fully stable memory which is not causing any issues during installation. It works perfectly fine on AMD and Intel motherboards and there were no issues at all on our test rigs.

The design is rather classic if we compare it to competitive gaming memory series. Black memory modules with blue, aluminum heatsinks. Nothing useless that would cost premium.

The performance of the XPower Turbine is as high as expected for the DDR4-3200. We could count on a bit better overclocking but I guess it’s just our luck and other users may find a memory kit which runs at DDR4-4000+.

The XPower Turbine 8GBx2 kit costs about $95 on the Amazon. It’s really inexpensive. Anyone who decides on this memory can save some money and get higher graphics card or processor what will be better for gaming PC. As we already presented in this review, the DDR4-3200 is fast enough for everything so why to spend money on higher frequency memory?

Pros:

  • Inexpensive
  • Compatible with AMD and Intel chipsets
  • Easy to install and configure
  • Low profile design

Cons:

  • Nothing worth to mention

Final words:

Silicon Power XPower Turbine offers a great balance between performance and price. In the same time is fully compatible with all modern desktop platforms and provides high stability. Naturally, the perfect mix for gamers with a lower budget.

If you are looking for an inexpensive, well-performing memory for your PC, then the XPower Turbine is clearly worth the recommendation. This is why it receives our Value Award!
