Thermaltake TOUGHRAM RC DDR5-4800 32GB Memory Kit Review

Conclusion and Verdict

After playing around with the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM RC DDR5-4800 memory kit, I’m fairly impressed by it’s overclocking performance! Come on, given the choice, no one will run their ram at the default speed of DDR5-4800. A simple overclock of 1000 (500MHz) to hit DDR5-5800 speeds is the right “attitude” LOL! 😀

Joke aside, I have to say the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM RC DDR5-4800 (2400MHz) memory kits did perform decently throughout our benchmarks. In AIDA64 memory test, it produced a Memory Read speed of 75,082 MB/s, Write speed of 68,792 MB/s and a Copy speed of 68,838 MB/s. Not bad.

And if you overclock them to DDR5-5800 (2900MHz), I’m hitting Read speed of 89,258 MB/s, Write speed of 79,799 MB/s and a Copy speed of 79,905 MB/s.

The build quailty of these memory kits are extremely good. The large black heatspreader may look a little boring and flat, but it’s required so that the memory waterblock on the Thermaltake Floe RC Ultra 240 AIO cooler, can be mounted securely.

The memory modules also includes on-die error correcting code (ECC), which is great, and it uses high-grade memory chips from SK Hynix which are known to overclock pretty well.

Using an ASRock Z690 Taichi motherboard, I couldn’t find the XMP options in the BIOS for these memory kits, so I’ve decided to manually set them from the default speed of DDR5-4800 (2400MHz). I left all other options to AUTO. Compatibility should be ok for most Z690 motherboards however, I do recommend you check your motherboard’s compatibility list (QVL).

If you’re a big RGB fan … sorry you’re out of luck, there’s no RGB illumination. All the graphics and illumination are displayed on large LCD display found on top of the memory waterblock of the Thermaltake Floe RC Ultra 240 CPU & Memory AIO Liquid Cooler. Using TT’s RGB Plus 2.0 software, you can display and monitor your memory speed, load, liquid and memory temperatures.

At the time of review, we couldn’t find a MSRP for the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM RC DDR5-4800 32GB Memory Kit, but expect to pay around USD $285-300. You can buy something similar … Corsair Vengeance DDR5 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 4800MHz – https://amzn.to/37JYcaT

Pros:

  • Rated at DDR5-4800 (other speeds are avilable at DDR5-5200 and DDR5-5600)
  • Good overclocking potential
  • Uses high-grade SK Hynix ICs
  • Compatible with Thermaltake Floe RC Ultra AIO
  • Life-time warranty

Cons:

  • No RGB
  • No mention of XMP support

Final Thoughts

If you’re planning to build a PC system, with an AIO cooling solution such as the Thermaltake Floe RC Ultra 240, then the Thermaltake TOUGHRAM RC DDR5-4800 32GB Memory Kit is the perfect match. They offer decent performance and overclocks really well too!
