AOC GK500 Gaming Keyboard and GM500 Gaming Mouse Review

Conclusion and Verdict

In conclusion, the AOC GK500 Gaming Keyboard has actually impressed me for the price point. There a couple of thing you struggle to find on another 50 dollar keyboard. First off having a wrist rest is must. And the GK500 has magnetic detachable wrist rest. The wrist rest is a hard plastic but offers a great angle for your hands towards the keyboard. I also like key lights. Having no lights what so ever is kind of a deal breaker for me. I use a keyboard a lot in low light and sometimes still have to look down for shift functions or where multimedia keys are located. So this keyboard not only features light, the RGB is very good. The letters are somewhat hard to see with out the lights but no worries because even if RGB isn’t your thing you can just apply a mild white backlight all through the software. The Outemu Blue switch is the biggest cost saving you will find on this keyboard. These are not all bad even though they are considered the value switch. You still get very good feel and performance almost unnoticeable compared to the more expensive version. The overall keyboard structure is quite sturdy. The aluminum face adds to the rigidity to the keyboard. Lastly, the software. It is usually the only way to easily change the settings and lights. For the first go around AOC has developed a pretty solid program. The only thing I found odd was when I first launched the software it defaulted to French. If the same thing happens to you  just look towards the top right and you will find a drop down box where you can switch the language. When you sync multiple objects together you will lose some lighting schemes like fireworks. The software worked perfectly and I didn’t encounter any frustration when using it!

GM500 Gaming Mouse

The GM500 Gaming Mouse features the PWM3325 sensor. This sensor is a decent sensor that offers stable polling, and feels smooth going across the screen. This particular sensor is only capable of 5000 dpi. Honestly that is enough for me. I typically find myself not crossing the 4000 dpi mark. I also don’t consider my self a competitive gamer and find higher dpi settings hard to control. So the 5000 dpi is a perfect top for any mouse I look at. I also like the braded cable. I find they tend to get stuck less and have less drag than a rubber cable. Braided cables tend to be a little more rigid and can take a while to stretch out. The switches are Omron and feel great. The RGB on the logo and around the back are a nice addition to the specs. Just like the keyboard the software for the mouse worked flawlessly.
