Conclusion and Verdict
The K57 has the right price for sure but is the lack of mechanical switches a deal breaker? Honestly its a toss up. I can get a similar model with mechanical switches for a few dollars more. But on the other hand this keyboard has the new SLIPSTREAM WIRELESS technology and brilliant CAPELLIX LED’s. So………this is a hard one. The LED’s are nice and as far as the lag you get from the wireless is not noticeable. If I was on a hard budget for a keyboard and wanted all the features minus mechanical switches I would recommend this keyboard. The keys didn’t feel horrible and quietness was a nice change of pace. You would probably notice the mechanical keys lasting longer, but I don’t think I have taken a keyboard to the end of its keystroke life.
The membrane keys may be a personal bias for some of you, but these keys have a decent feedback and no need to worry that they will be a deal breaker. We all know membrane keys have their pros and cons, but this keyboard is priced right and the lighting/wireless performance is superb!
