Verdict and Conclusion
I have to admit, when it comes to mechanical gaming keyboards I wouldn’t have considered G.Skill as being a real competitor in this field. Especially when you have major players like Steelseries, Roccat, Razer and Logitech dominating the market. After seeing the G.Skill RIPJAWS KM780 keyboard in action … I’ve change my mind!!
G.Skill have surprised us all. Their RIPJAWS KM780 mechanical gaming keyboard has surpassed all our expectations, both in build quality and features. It’s definitely a real and serious contender against all the other gaming brands out there. Just look at the feature list below and you’ll see what I mean.
The Cherry MX Brown keyswitch on RIPJAWS KM780 is definitely one of the selling points. It is a Cherry keyswitch after all, unlike some other brands claiming to have faster key responses, by using their own keyswitch. Well, I prefer a Cherry any day 😛
Now I know some of you gamers may not prefer the gaming keycaps in red. I was a little taken back at first … but after a while, you kind of get used to it. The contoured keys does feel nice and they’re super easy to mount and install.
Pricewise the G.Skill RIPJAWS KM780 keyboard will cost you around USD $169.99, which isn’t cheap, but it’s what I expected for a premium mechanical gaming keyboard. It does fall in line with established brands such as the Steelseries Apex M800, which is their flagship “top-of-the-line” gaming keyboard. All-in-all, the RIPJAWS KM780 is very good gaming keyboard that will cater for the most demanding of gamers. If you’re an avid gamer, and you want a premium, high-quality mechanical gaming keyboard with a feature set as long as your arm … then the G.Skill RIPJAWS KM780 keyboard is the one for you! Just the build quality was enough to convince me already … and the massive feature list adds the final cherry on the cake. Well done G.Skill, you make me want to become a gamer once more!
