HyperX Pulsefire Haste Wireless Gaming Mouse Review

Closer Look and Performance

The Pulsefire Haste Wireless mouse was designed for right-handers. If we are left-handers, then we may have problems using additional two buttons on the side. The mouse has six buttons in total but I assume that unless we play specific MMORPG games, then we won’t use all of them. There are barely any MMO mice with more than six buttons, and even fewer that are wireless, so it can be a tip to manufacturers to design something new. I bet that gamers will appreciate a new mouse for this already large group of users.

Considering the above, we can say that the Pulsefire Haste Wireless is rather for gamers that use fewer buttons but want freedom of movement. The mouse is, in fact, light and slides smoothly on most, if not all, surfaces. In the package, there is also an additional set of skates that can be replaced when needed. I’ve never needed that but if you use a mouse on a desk with a specific texture instead of a recommended mouse pad, then skates may wear out faster.

The Pulsefire Haste Wireless mouse was designed to last a long time and be comfortable. The exterior looks similar to other gaming mice on the market right now. Most counting brands decided on hex-shaped holes. I wonder why so many brands went this way. For sure any holes reduce the weight and let the palm breathe, so it’s an advantage. On the other hand, not so long time ago many brands were adding weights to mice as some gamers didn’t like how light they were. Now it’s one of the key features in most leading brands. I feel it’s a personal preference and at least for me, a lighter mouse is better.

HyperX uses high-quality switches, so we can count that the mouse will live for longer than its warranty. I’ve never had problems with switches in HyperX products, but it’s impossible to test it for a review like ours. We have to believe that the mouse will last at least two years as this is under the warranty. Most gamers will replace their mice in two years anyway. For me, it’s typically about every three years for a gaming PC.

The mouse is using a PAW3335 sensor, which works up to 16000 DPI. By default, there are four presets at 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 DPI, but we can program anything we want up to mentioned 16000 DPI. I had no problems using the mouse on any more standard surface like a desk with or without a mouse pad and more or less glossy surface, but of course, glass can be a problem. Recommended are gaming-grade mouse pads like many from the HyperX offer.

HyperX provides NGenuity software that is easy to manage and helps in programming various additional modes. We can program mentioned six buttons, change RGB mode, set a custom DPI that matches our needs, or program macros. The software will also automatically find a firmware update and asks if the user wants to update it. The first start actually made us update firmware and the screen with that you can see below. For firmware updates is required a USB cable.

Below screenshots are taken from the NGenuity software and show available options. For RGB illumination, we have one zone and, as usual, static and dynamic modes. We can also save and switch between RGB profiles.

Every button can be programmed to match a single keyboard key, combination of keys, or any form of macro with specified delays.

The Pulsefire Haste Wireless mouse was working for a couple of days, mostly playing games and browsing the web. There were no issues during tests, and the mouse was comfortable enough not to focus on it. I’m mainly playing MMORPG so I was missing additional buttons that could be programmed. Besides that, everything was perfect. The mouse is light and doesn’t limit the movement in any way. It’s one of the main advantages of wireless technology. For me, it could be a bit larger, but I got used to it fast so it’s hard to complain.

The mouse arrived fully charged which was a bit surprising as usually battery-based devices arrive discharged or charged at a minimum. It proves that the battery lasts long, even longer than in the key features provided by HyperX. The mouse was working without any additional charging for all the tests.

As I mentioned, some other brands released similar-looking mice, but the HyperX feels like a bit higher quality. Also, the wired and wireless option gives an advantage as most competitive mice use only a USB cable.

It’s hard to find any disadvantages of the HyperX Pulsefire Haste Wireless. Everything in the manufacturer’s specifications and features exactly describes the product as it works in reality. As long as it meets your needs then you can expect it will be perfect for you.
