ASRock B550 Extreme4 Motherboard Review

Overclocking

Disclaimer: Overclocking is never guaranteed, so that the results may vary depending on certain conditions and various hardware configurations. I am not recommending overclocking if you do not know what you are doing. High voltages may damage hardware, and it will not be covered by warranty.

CPU overclocking results are pretty much the same as on the B550 PG Velocita or most X570 motherboards.

There were no problems to reach the boost clock on our Ryzen 9 3900X. However, because of the nature of the current Ryzen generation, we can’t count on a significant overclock. The maximum frequency on all cores was limited by the CPU and reached 4.35GHz. This is still a pretty good result.

The maximum memory frequency was DDR4-4800 but to confirm the specification, below is a result at DDR4-4733 and pretty tight CL18-18-18 main timings made on the G.Skill TridentZ Neo DDR4-3600 memory kit.

Our results are higher than most users will even try to set. This proves that the B550 Extreme4 is a solid platform for all users, even overclockers. For sure, gamers will have a lot of fun with this motherboard as it perfectly meets their needs and is cheaper than some other models with a similar specification and features.
