ASRock Fatal1ty X470 Gaming-ITX/ac Motherboard Review

Performance: Part 1

All tests were performed on the AMD Ryzen platform which contains the 2600X processor with standard cooler delivered by AMD, 16GB DDR4-4133 set to DDR4-3200 16-16-16 for the comparison purposes, EVGA GTX1080Ti FE for 3D tests, Patriot Hellfire NVMe SSD and Kingston HyperX Savage SATA SSD for storage tests, and Enermax Platimax D.F. 750W Plat. 80+ PSU.

All tests were performed on the Windows 10 Pro x64.

Let’s begin with AIDA64 Memory and Cache benchmark.

Performance of the X470 Gaming ITX/ac is higher than we can see on the B450 chipset. A bit low is a result in memory read but every couple of runs it goes above 47GB/s. I’m not sure if it was the cause of Windows running background services or something else. It doesn’t change a fact that performance is great and we can count on some improvements once ASRock releases new BIOS (I just know it will appear soon but we don’t have time to wait right now).

Next in line are PCMark benchmarks from UL or previously known as Futuremark. In these tests are used various popular programs to deliver mixed load performance which supposed to be close to our daily work.

The X470 Gaming ITX/ac performs exceptionally. Even though there are a couple of points difference then we can see it’s faster than the competitive ASRock motherboards. In theory, all motherboards on the same chipset supposed to perform the same so at least in motherboard reviews, we are not expecting big differences. However, in this case, we can see that some motherboards are showing higher performance.

The same situation is in PCMark 8 Creative and in PCMark 10.

In storage benchmarks, results are close to each other regardless of the used motherboard and all results are high.

The high performance we can also see in rendering benchmarks like Cinebench R15.

The X470 chipset performs a bit better in some tests. I’m not sure if it’s related to BIOS or something else as I wasn’t expecting this difference in test results. At least we can see one more reason why the X470 costs some more.

7-Zip compression and decompression tests are presenting a similar situation. Even though all motherboards are showing high performance then the X470 Gaming-ITX/ac performs the best.

On the next page, we will continue performance tests and we will tell you something about the overclocking on ASRock X470 Gaming-ITX/ac.
