ASRock H470 Steel Legend Motherboard Review

Installation

We used a Cooler Master MasterLiquid 240 AIO for our test rig, and that fitted nicely with no issues at all. The large silver heatsinks adds a decent amount of aesthetics to the whole PC build. The Steel Legend’s black/white/gray camo design is perfect for anyone who wants to build a white-themed PC.

I think I need a white/silver AIO cooler to match the camo design of the Steel Legend. Oh wait I do have one … the LIAN LI Galahad AIO 240 RGB CPU Cooler. Check out the review here.

BIOS

The main page of the BIOS allows you to adjust and tweak your CPU and memory settings, including voltages, multipliers, and memory timings. You can also enable/disable various onboard devices and well as monitoring the motherboard/system health.

I didn’t see any options for ASRock’s unique Base Frequency Boost (BFB) technology, which supposed to allow non-K processors to be installed and increases performance. I guess the BIOS will auto detect the processor type and adjust accordingly.

Unfortunately due to chipset limitation there was no option for XMP memory profiles and I was only able to select a maximum of only DDR4-2933. I would recommend you check the Memory QVL list and Storage QVL list from ASRock for compatibility.
