ASRock H470 Steel Legend Motherboard Review

Test Setup

For our tests, we used a test rig which includes the ASRock B550 Steel Legend Motherboard, along with an AMD Ryzen 7 – 3700X at default clock speed of 3.6GHz (turbo boost 4.4GHz), as well as 16GB of Thermaltake Toughram RGB (DDR4-3200) ram in dual channel mode.

All tests were conducted at turbo clock speeds at a resolution of 1920×1080. High or Ultra settings enabled.

Windows System Properties

The Intel Core i9-10900K features 10 cores and 20 threads … and this is shown on the Windows Properties. Default base clock is at 3.7GHz, while boost reaches upto 5.3GHz

AIDA64 Info

Yup. Intel’s 10th Gen Comet Lake processors are still on 14nm technology and doesn’t fully support PCIE Gen4. You’ll have to wait until Intel releases their 11th or 12th Gen, then you might ‘possibly’ see new technologies.

CPU-Z Info

When I first heard that the Comet Lake would have a TDP of 125W … I was pretty shocked. It means, if you overclock this chip … the TDP will increase and so will the temps. A decent CPU cooler is HIGHLY recommended.

Load Temps

Load temperatures reached a high of around 69 degrees Celsius, which was much lower than I expected. I’m guessing the reason for this is that the system wasn’t running at the full Max Boost speed of 5.3GHz

In any case, we highly recommend you use a decent AIO cooler. Check out the complete list of AIO coolers we’ve reviewed so far …
